Investing in Micro Cap Stocks

It's better to first understand what Micro Cap means. A micro-cap stock is known to be a higher classification than nano cap. However, the exact definition of these terms can also vary between brokerage houses. The classifications of “large cap” or “small cap” are approximations that are relative to time so it changes over time. At present, micro cap stocks are considered to be part of companies with market capitalization between $50 million to $300 million.

There is historical evidence that micro-cap stocks offer small investors fruitful returns. There is a few mention of micro-cap stock from market commentators or from fund managers. One will wonder why this is so but read on to look into this further.

Imagine finding out that you can earn 100% for a 1 c investment in a year. The interest maybe enticing but you may realize that this in the end will not help your personal need or interest. Thus, you would not be interested after all in investing since a 1 c profit would be worthless.

Likewise, those who move and shake big funds are not interested in small stocks whose trading volumes make just a few thousand dollars daily. They feel it’s not worth their time and effort since fund managers deal with stocks whose liquidity offers huge parcels of shares to be bought and sold easily.

However, the best historical returns are offered by tiny companies – not only beating the market average with little but by an enormous margin. Microcap stocks investment is a powerful strategy but available only to small investors.
